Employment

We are moving to a commercial kitchen and looking for one or two individuals to join our team as a baker and/or all-inclusive decorator to help expand our day-to-day baking and decorating. The individual(s) will solely focus on our custom celebration cakes (does not include bridal cakes at this time). Other baking essentials include cake pops, cupcakes, and chocolate dipped treats.

Individuals must be flexible with scheduling, 1099-Contractor agreement, an NDA, and Non-Compete agreement must be signed (non-negotiable), and all components are enforced. Experience working in a commercial kitchen is a bonus if you’re familiar with commercial ovens and equipment. You are required to have your Tulsa Food Handlers valid permit, maintain a clean work area following all food safety standards.

1099 Independent Contractor – Cake Baker & Decorator

Cake Palate Designs, LLC is seeking skilled 1099 Independent Contractors to support our growing custom cake operations. This role is not an employee position and does not include benefits. Contractors are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and financial obligations.

Independent Contractor Status (Important)

This position is strictly a 1099 contractor role:

  • No employee benefits

  • No tax withholdings (contractor must manage and pay their own taxes)

  • Work is project-based and scheduled as needed

  • Contractors must provide their own required tax documentation

​

Baker Responsibilities

  • Baking from scratch using appropriate measurements, torting cakes (when applicable), filling, icing, and finishing cakes ensuring timely completion

  • Performing quality checks with the ingredients and finished products 

  • Preparing buttercream frostings (America, Italian meringue, or whipped cream)

  • Preparing cakes for custom orders and events, including but not limited to torting, filling, icing, and finishing cakes

  • Monitor stock, notify when supplies are low, rotate products, and minimize waste

  • Greet our clients, always maintain a positive and professional attitude and appearance, and appropriately handle inquiries

  • Maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards, no exceptions

  • Willingness to be trained on Cake Palate Designs’ baking standards and processes

  • Ability to stand for long periods, can involve heavy lifting, squatting and bending

  • Ability to work in hot or cold environment

 

Baking experience is preferred; training is available for the right candidate.

Decorator Responsibilities (Advanced Skills Preferred)

  • Preparing cakes – performing quality checks with the ingredients and finished products for custom orders and events, including but not limited to torting, filling, icing, and finishing cakes

  • Proficiency with fondant, gum paste, sugar designs (flowers or figurines), or airbrushing.

  • Ability to use pastry bags, piping tips, and icing techniques

  • Ability to execute and create custom cake designs, edible art for events, be meticulous with your work designs ensuring stunning centerpieces, and maintain the utmost care with food safety, and using business supplies. 

  • Writing messages and decorative lettering on cakes

  • Strong attention to detail and consistency

  • Staying current with cake decorating trends and techniques

  • Greet our clients, always maintain a positive and professional attitude and appearance, and appropriately handle inquiries

  • As needed delivery and setup for custom and wedding cakes, or events

  • Ability to stand for long periods, can involve heavy lifting, squatting and bending 

  • Ability to work in hot or cold environment

Advanced-level decorating skills are a strong plus.
Applicants seeking decorator assignments must provide examples of their work (portfolio, social media, or photos).
